Jumping Dragon innovatively explores the core spirit of Chinese Culture through traditional Martial Arts and Contemporary movement. It aims to celebrate the Cultural Olympiad 2012 by the performance and workshop opportunities for participants nationally. It is now available to book.

Events that have already booked Jumping Dragon are:

The opening of Epping Forest District Museum’s China in the East exhibition

We are happy to declare that Jumping Dragon has been accepted to be included in the first edition of Re-SITE, an online magazine brought to you by DiGM, set out to promote high quality sited or outdoor dance performance works.

We are delighted to announce that Jumping Dragon has been granted the prestigious London 2012 Inspire Mark, the badge of the London 2012 Inspire programme which recognises exceptional and innovative projects inspired by the 2012 Games.

YuYu Rau’s ‘Beloved Emoh’ at Resolution! 2012

On Friday 17th February, YuYu Rau’s work, Beloved Emoh was performed at The Place’s Resolution! 2012. We are delighted to announce that the evening was sold out. The process was a great learning curve for YuYu and we would like to thank the people that attended and gave their support.

Partnership with Epping Museum

Step Out Arts has recently established a partnership with Epping Museum, Essex. Jumping Dragon will be performed as part of their China in the East exhibition on the 7th July 2012.

Free workshops will also be delivered at the Museum to celebrate Chinese New Year in February 2012.

Chinese New Year

Cultural Celebration Workshops now available to book!

Chinese New Year 2012 is on the 23rd January and it is the Year of the Dragon. Jie Qing means ‘festivities’ in Chinese. The project is a cultural education outreach and performance programme. We are running a range of workshops from Kung Fu to Calligraphy and they are now available to book between the 16th January – 2nd of March.

“The demonstration performances were fantastic. Five different school children were just amazed by those highly trained artists. The workshop pace was very good. All children and teachers had a great time”. (Asian Music Centre, Acton).

The Jumping Dragon Project 11/12 innovatively explores the core spirit of Chinese Culture through traditional Martial Arts and Contemporary movement. It aims to celebrate the Cultural Olympiad 2012. The R&D of the project was performed this summer at GreenwichWorld Cultural Festival 2011 and the project is now taking bookings for its tour.

Success at ArtsCross 2011!

The two shows at ArtsCross were completely sold out! Artistic Director Jih-Wen Yeh posts, ‘Associate Artist Khamlane Halsackda engaged audiences both nights and won positive feedback from the auditorium in Taiwan’. To view Khamlane’s work from ArtsCross 2011 please click here.

Jih-Wen Yeh also had a very positive reaction from her speech regarding the development of Step Out Arts, as East Asian advocators and the British East Asian dance scene in the UK.

Artistic Director Jih-Wen Yeh at Artscross – Danscross 2011, Taiwan.

Step Out Art’s (SOA) Artistic Director Jih-Wen Yeh will be advocating the development of the British East Asian choreographers in the UK at Artscross – Danscross 2011 Taiwan , the first of three events created by Middlesex University ResCen (MURC) and being held this year at Taipei National University of Arts (TNUA) from 1st – 22nd August in Taiwan.

SOA is working in a 3 year partnership (2011-2013) with Middlesex University to develop the cross -cultural link and the profile, activities, education and knowledge of dance as an art form in the east and west.
