Ribbon Dance

Ribbon Dance is one of the oldest traditional Chinese dances. Originating over a thousand years ago, it became popular in the palaces of the Han dynasty (206BC - 220AD)  It was used during times of celebration. Ribbon dance is the most popular workshop welcomed in schools as the outcome is visually phenomenal.Suitable for children all ages.

Chinese New Year Story Telling

A combined art form of Interactive Chinese New Year storytelling and leaning basic Chinese language. Relevant traditional props will be used during the storytellings and opportunity for participants to learn Chinese Language in a fun environment through movement and games. Suitable for children aged 4 - 9 years old.

Kung Fu & Tai Chi 

Tai Chi is a type of exercise that contains slow graceful movements which helps improve posture and the circulation of energy in the body. Kung Fu is a form of self defense that improves physical strength and muscle development.Suitable for children age 3+. This workshop can be delivered indoors or outdoors.

Traditional Chinese Calligraphy

An opportunity for participants to take part in learning the traditional Chinese way of writing using selected characters and Chinese brush and ink.

Suitable for children of all ages and is delivered indoors.

Traditional Music

Listen out for the traditional Chinese music played by Wan Ying, you will also have a chance to have hands on and play some instruments too.

Suitable for children of all ages.

Chinese Lion Dance

Please note: - The workshops and performance come together as one unit and can not be separated. 

Lion Dance is a form of traditional dance in Chinese Culture, in which performers mimic lion's movements from within a lion costume.

In the workshop, the participants will learn the movement and steps in a group and later on in pairs as the lion dance takes two people to perform.Suitable for children aged 7+ .

Workshop only - 

  • Performing arts workshop (1 artist, Maximum 30 children, up to 5 workshops per day)

  • Arts & craft workshop (1 artist, Maximum 30 children, up to 5 workshops per day)

PERFORMANCE AND WORKSHOP - 

30 minutes of presentation at the assembly, following by workshops

Total 3 artists and up to 5 workshops per Kung Fu & TaiChi and 5 workshops of Ribbon dance)
