A note from Khamlane Halsackda

The opportunities that have arisen since becoming associate artist at SOA have presented themselves invaluable by allowing me to create future collaborations with those that I met. In the Autumn 2013 (with Step Out Arts) I am running the project Asia-Noise, a touring workshop in choreography with dance makers Lucy Suggate and Raymond Rao. Currently we have India, Laos and China already confirmed with Taiwan and the Philippines pencilled in. This project is provided some funds from the Swedish arts grants committee.

This year Step Out Arts co-produced my most recent work, the duet ‘Yellow card’, along with Pavilion dance, UK and Dansstationen, Sweden.  They continue to support the distribution, promotion and touring of this work in 2013 as it has its UK Premiere at Luton Hat Factory and London Premiere at the Rich Mix.

Step Out Arts are now co-producing my quartet: ‘What do you expect?’ a work about performers and performance, funded by Malmö stad, Sweden. This has its world premiere at Dansstationen, Sweden 3rd April 2013 and comes to the UK, 3rd May to the Rich Mix.

I want to thank Jih-Wen Yeh for her unwavering support and belief in my work, with her behind me I continue to learn and grow. Our collaborations not only help increase my visibility to audiences but also allow me the chance to further my working practice, and thereby to find my voice as an artist.
